Standards & ethics
Integrity is part of the craft.
The principles for participation, honest representation and responsible use of IBEN recognition. These are network standards, not regulatory rules.
A SHARED COMMITMENT
Responsible recognition.
These principles describe IBEN’s intended professional standards. They do not replace applicable law, licensing obligations or professional responsibilities.
Portfolio authenticity
Submit your own work and describe your contribution when a project involves a team. Obtain permission to share client images. Disclose substantial retouching, filters or generated content that could affect an assessment.
Professional representation
Present experience, qualifications and achievements accurately. A portfolio should provide context without implying credentials, endorsements or capabilities that cannot be substantiated.
Misleading information
Material omissions, copied work or false statements may lead to a request for clarification, exclusion from consideration or review of an existing recognition record.
Professional conduct
Participants are expected to communicate respectfully, protect client privacy, seek appropriate consent and work within their professional competence and responsibilities.
Recognition integrity
Application, nomination, payment, membership and participation do not guarantee selection. Recognition must reflect a completed review within the relevant programme.
Conflicts of interest
Applicants and reviewers should disclose personal, financial or professional relationships that could influence an assessment. A reviewer with a material conflict should not take part in that decision.
Use of IBEN recognition
Use the exact programme title and year shown in your published record. Do not describe recognition as a licence, government approval or general endorsement of a salon, product or training course. Do not alter the scope of the recognition.
Corrections and revocation
IBEN may review a record when credible concerns arise. The professional should have an opportunity to provide context. Outcomes may include a correction, withdrawal of recognition or no change, depending on the evidence. A withdrawn record should not be represented as current recognition.
Complaints and contact
Use the professional support enquiry route to raise a concern. Include the record ID, the relevant facts and supporting material you have permission to share. Avoid unnecessary sensitive personal information. Contact channels will be published when confirmed.
